iPad Art

I finally have my own iPad and I broke it in with a first for me, a sketch entirely created on an iPad. The sketch features the star of four of my Blender training courses.

I did the initial line work in Adobe Ideas, then brought it into ArtRage for some painting, finally I imported that into Photoshop Express to do some adjustments. Drawing and painting with your finger takes some getting used to, but it can be fun.

Astra Itinera on Facebook

I have a Facebook page for my game Astra Itinera. Check it out for the latest news and tips. Note: You do not have to be a member of Facebook to browse the page.

Un petit jeu sympa

Last month I launched my first iPad game, Astra Itinera. I've learned quite a bit in that month. One thing I learned is that there is no easy way to respond to a review. I had a French review of Astra Itinera:
Et la sauvegarde ? - ★★★
by CSM 101 - Version 1.0.0 - Mar 21, 2012

And the backup? - ★ ★ ★
by MSC 101 - Version 1.0.0 - March 21, 2012
A nice little game, although there is no research: we build a warship (single model) or an "N tracer" that creates an interplanetary highway (to move instantly between two distant planets - Unfortunately we must scuttle the tracer to establish the road) and we explore an unknown space in search of planets that are seized by sending a warship. The ia is reasonably aggressive and quick to bite you every planet poorly protected border. Unfortunately, it seems to lack the "Continue" option, so that if one switches to another application, it is impossible to find the current game, the game does offer than starting a new one. As it stands, this severely limits the interest of the game ..

Hopefully the use CSM (MSC?) will see this post! I'd like to address his/her concerns:

Unfortunately we must scuttle the tracer to establish the road
You do not have to scuttle the Astraship to establish the road! In fact, the astra itinera can be used as the ship is creating it! But be careful, an enemy can use it and fly right into your ship.

Unfortunately, it seems to lack the "Continue" option, so that if one switches to another application, it is impossible to find the current game, the game does offer than starting a new one. As it stands, this severely limits the interest of the game ..
There is a "Continue" option, it is called "Resume" and it appears when you have a game in progress. iPad games don't really ever exit when you switch applications. You'd have to know how to force it to quit, which is a several step process that one normally does not do. If you switch to the main screen during a game you will see it. If you switch to another app while playing Astra Itinera, when you return you should return exactly where you left off.

Thanks for taking time to play and review my game, CSM! If you have any other questions feel free to post this blog or on the Astra Itinera facebook page, or email me direct, blender@nyquist.net
