Bits of Blender #38 - Blender Versions

Richard and I did another episode of Bits of Blender tonight. We show how and where to get earlier versions of Blender and talk about why you might want to do so. :-)

  1. I think it would be interesting to try out the very first version of Blender! I remember when the whole Blender program was available on a single floppy disk… (a 1.4MB magnetic disk that grandpa used in his ol’ Komputor-Matic )
Many, many years ago I read a review of the program in a magazine and saw some wonderful illustrations that showed what Blender could do. After seeing these pictures I decided to try out the program. Alas, without any learning aids whatsoever at that time to guide my way, trying to create anything with Blender - even a straight line – was near impossible. So, reluctantly, I removed the program from my pc – Blender was definitely not for me! Things have changed a lot since those Freddy Flintstone Floppy Disk days! We are all now blessed with wonderful learning tools available on the internet.

A terabyte of thanks from me to all those kind souls who have created tutorials for Blender!

  3. Wow. It's hard to follow a great post like that.

I just wanted to humbly ask when we might expect another CartoonSmart Blender lesson?

And if I could re-iterate what iiian2009 expressed, your tutorials (both short and long form clearly demonstrate the capabilities of Blender. You're a gifted instructor teaching a phenomenal application.

Now can we have more, please? =]

  4. Gee Gnaws, I'm not sure if I should feel guilty or motivated... I'm sorry for the delay. I started working on another course but put it on hold. You post is encouraging, thanks!
